Profile Data Graphs
Introduction
As you created an item data graph in the previous workshop, you can now build a real-time profile data graph that returns in-the-moment profile data from website events for real-time personalization and decisioning.
Before starting the hands-on exercises in this workshop, watch the video below to learn what profile data graphs are in Data 360 and how they’re used in Salesforce Personalization.

Deploy Calculated Insight
First you will deploy a calculated insight from a data kit so that it's available to include in a data graph definition.
- Select Calculated Insights tab from the Data Cloud app.
- Click New.
- Select the From a Data Kit tile in the New Insight dialog.
- Click Next.
- Select RT Product Views by Category.
- Click Next.
- Click Activate.
- Leave the schedule options as default settings and click Enable.
Purpose of This Calculated Insight
This calculated insight aggregates product view activity by category and is used to support decisioning and experiment targeting logic. For example, it enables targeting only individuals who have viewed the Shoes category at least x times.
While similar targeting can be configured using engagement DMOs on the profile data graph, calculated insights provide greater flexibility through richer aggregation options, additional dimensional analysis, and extended activity lookback windows, as data graphs are limited storing the 100 most recent engagement events.
Create Product Data Graph
With the calculated insight created, you can now create a profile data graph that includes data from both the Goods Product DMO and calculated insight.
- Select the Data Graphs tab from the Data Cloud app.
- Click New.
- Leave the Start from Scratch tile selected, then click Next.
